From Rig Veda, Purusha Suktam is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is described as the great Purusha in the hymn. The mantras in this hymn are written in Chhandas (15 in the Anushtup Chhanda, and the final one in the Tristup Chhanda) that has the power to generate a tremendous positive spiritual force.

The Sukta is charged with a five-fold force potent enough to rouse God like experience in the seeker. The Seer (Rishi) of the Sukta is Narayana, the greatest of sages ever known, who is proclaimed in the Bhagavata Gita as the only person whose mind cannot be disturbed by desire and whose power not even all the gods can ever imagine.
