Sri Satyanarayan Puja and Hawan, is a puja or worship which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (the Preserver), one among the great Hindu trinities. The word “Satyanarayan” is an amalgamation of two words, ‘Satya’ means truth, ‘Narayan’ means the highest and ultimate form of being or the supreme man; that means Lord Vishnu is the personification of the truth.
Lord Satyanarayana is the form of lord Maha Vishnu. The Lord in this form is considered to be the embodiment of the truth and the entire Brahmand (Universe).

According to the legends associated with the ritual, several kings and merchants used to perform it in the past to overcome adversity, and earn the grace of Satyanarayan swami, a benevolent form of lord Vishnu.
Lord Narayana is the almighty who is believed to have created this world. So collectively it signifies the existence of almighty who created life, who created nature.The ritual worship of Lord Vishnu or Sri Satyanarayan Puja is generally performed on a full moon day or Purnima of every month or on any special occasion such as achieving a milestone or fulfilling a wish, as a special thanksgiving to the Godhead of the Hindu Trinity.
